Bluesfest news keeps rolling in, with more sideshows announced today, ahead of their fourth artist announcement on Sunday, which promises to deliver another big name, which they are teasing could bigger than Robert Plant.

Reggae pioneer Jimmy Cliff, famous for the songs ‘I Can See Clearly Now’ and ‘Many Rivers To Cross’, leads the announcement, along with the voice of Yes, Jon Anderson.

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue are appearing at Hamer Hall in Melbourne and Enmore Theatre in Sydney with the Tedeschi Trucks Band. Newcastle are getting a treat from this outstanding New Orleans outfit when they do an intimate club date at Lizottes on April 1st (no fooling!)

Also on the list are the First Lady of Rockabilly, Wanda Jackson, and soul singer-songwriter Bettye Lavette, along with Jake Shimabukuro, Shawn Colvin, Seth Lakeman and Ben Caplan.

Previously announced sideshows include Roger Hodgson, Joan Armatrading, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Bonnie Raitt, Mavis Staples, Rodriguez and Newton Faulkner.

Blues and roots fans across the nation are going to be busy in March and April next year – check out your city’s latest Bluesfest Touring calendar below.

Tickets for all new shows go on sale Monday 12 November 9am, with pre-sale starting Thurs 8 November, except for Trombone Shorty’s shows, which are on sale now.

All ticketing details available from the Bluesfest Touring website.

Bluesfest Melbourne Day Two was a rollercoaster ride. There was so much great music packed into one day that it was impossible to see it all.
