America to Tour Australia Again to Mark their 50th Anniversary

2020 will mark the 50th anniversary of the band America. As founding members Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell prepare for a benchmark year, Australia and New Zealand have been chosen to kick off what is bound to be a year long round of celebration.

Sons of U.S. servicemen stationed in England, Dewey Bunnell, Gerry Beckley and Dan Peek met in high school in 1967. The three teenagers ultimately formed a band that was inspired by the British Invasion.

America and Russell Morris Give Melbourne Fans A Century of Great Music

September 2017 will mark the 50th anniversary of the release of Russell Morris’ first single ‘Heat Wave’ with Somebody’s Image. America’s first hit ‘A Horse With No Name’ popped up on the chart in 1972, 45 years ago. When America performed ‘A Horse With No Name’ with Morris in Melbourne Wednesday night there were 95 collective years of hitmakers on stage at the same time.
