Australian Charts: Dean Lewis Has The No 1 Song For A Second Week

Local pop singer and songwriter Dean Lewis holds for a second week at the summit of the ARIA Singles Chart with his track “Be Alright”.

“Be Alright” also holds to the top of both the digital sales and for the first time on the streaming chart, and he becomes the first Solo Aussie Male artist to stay at the top for a second week since Guy Sebastian’s “Battle Scars” (6 wks from 20th August, 2012, six years and one week ago), as in between then and now there have been three Solo Australian Male acts to stay for a single week at the top for Taylor Henderson (11-Nov, 2013), Conrad Sewell (22-Jun, 2015) and Flume (15-Feb, 2016).

Climbing two places to a new peak of No.2 are Benny Blanco with Halsey and Khalid on their track “Eastside”, which is the new No.1 song in New Zealand and now the highest charted single for Khalid, who hit No.3 earlier this year with “Love Lies” alongside Normani (TW-54), which pushes down “In My Feelings” for Drake and current tourists 5 Seconds of Summer with “Youngblood” to No.3 and No.4 respectively.

Maroon 5 with Cardi B and “Girls Like You” along with “No Brainer” for DJ Khaled with Justin Bieber are both on hold at No.5 and No.6 respectively, with it being the fourth straight week at No.6 for DJ K & JB where they entered the chart four weeks week ago. Ariana Grande’s fourth album “Sweetener” debuts at the top of the Albums chart this week and all 15 tracks from the album are within the Top 100 this week, with her albums second single “God is a Woman” (which she also performed this past week at the MTV VMA’s) rebounding ten places to No.7 for a fourth overall week within the Top 10, while right behind it debuting at No.8 is “Breathin'”, which gives her an eighth Top 10 single in Australia also. The current English (4th wk) and Irish (9th wk) No.1 song for George Ezra and “Shotgun” is up two places to a new peak of No.9, becoming his third Top 10 single here and now second highest charted, as his debut entry “Budapest” climbed to No.5 in August of 2014, with last weeks Top 10 leaper “High Hopes” for Panic! At the Disco dropping back down three spots to No.10, both tracks newly certified Gold (●) in sales.

UP:
* Dennis Lloyd is back up one spot to No.15 with his former No.10 single “Nevermind”, which is now ▲Platinum in sales.
* Martin Garrix with Khalid are back up four spots to No.17 with “Ocean” (HP-12).
* The first release from the new Ariana Grande album “No Tears Left to Cry” rebounds twenty-four places to No.21, while she also re-enters with the album track “The Light is Coming” (HP-60) at No.77.
* Bazzi leaps up twelve spots to a new peak of No.22 with his second entry “Beautiful”.
* The Rubens move up one single spot to a new peak of No.24 with “Never Ever”.
* Loud Luxury crack the Top 40 by moving up eight places to No.40 with “Body”.
* After several weeks of two place climbs for the Bebe Rexha track “I’m a Mess”, this week it’s up only one spot to a new peak of No.41.
* The trio of Labrinth, Sia and Diplo under the moniker LSD see their second entry “Thunderclouds” take a twenty place leap to a new peak of No.69.
* Other than the Ariana return and three for Aretha Franklin, the fifth and final re-entry this week is “I Like Me Better” for Lauv at No.88.

DOWN:
* There are three songs leaving the Top 10 this week starting with “Rise” for Jonas Blue (HP-8, WI10-2), then followed by “Healing Hands” for Conrad Sewell (HP-7, WI10-4, newly ▲Platinum in sales too) and then “Sicko Mode” for Travis Scott with Drake (HP-7, WI10-2), all three tracks down three places each to No.11, No.12 and No.13 respectively. While Travis also falls with “Stargazing” (32 to 49) and leaves the Top 100 with “Wake Up” (#67), “Butterfly Effect” (#78), “Stop Trying to Be God” (#87), “Yosemite” (#97) and “Carousle” (#99).
* Post Malone on the Tiesto track “Jackie Chan” is down two spots to No.16, while he also falls with “Better Now” (now 2x▲Platinum), “Psycho” (now 3x▲Platinum), “Rockstar” (54 to 60) and “I Fall Apart” (58 to 66).
* Peking Duk and their dual track “Fire”/”Reprisal” drops down four spots to No.23 and is now ▲Platinum.
* Clean Bandit and Demi Lovato with their former No.7 single “Solo” drop down three to No.25, while Jess Glynne and “I’ll Be There” moves down two to No.26, both tracks newly ▲Platinum in sales too.
* Anne-Marie drops down seven spots to No.27 with her most recent Top 10 entry “2002”, while her newer entry alongside David Guetta and “Don’t Leave Me Alone” drops back down twelve spots to No.55, while David’s track with Sia and “Flames” leaves the chart and is now ▲Platinum in sales.
* Khalid drops down with “Lovely” (29 to 34), “Love Lies” (49 to 54) and “OTW” (53 to 64).
* XXXTentacion slides down five places to No.32 with “Sad!” (now 2x▲Platinum) and is also down with “Jocelyn Flores” (51 to 56) and “Changes” (now Gold (●)).
* With a new entry for Calvin Harris his track with Dua Lipa and “One Kiss” falls down five to No.33, while Dua is also down with “IDGAF” (newly 3x▲Platinum).
* Amy Shark drops down eight spots to No.39 with “I Said Hi”, while her newer entry “All Loved Up” is down four places to No.84.
* Drake drops down with “Nice for What” (36 to 45), “God’s Plan” (39 to 46 and now 4x▲Platinum), “Nonstop” (44 to 47) and “Don’t Matter to Me” (61 to 92).
* Ed Sheeran retains the ‘Longest Charted Single’ crown as “Shape of You” drops down three spots to No.53 and has logged its 85th week within the Top 100, while he also drops down with “Happier” (62 to 76).
* Nicki Minaj slides down with “Bed” (40 to 59), “Barbie Dreams” (57 to 90) and “Majesty” (60 to 96).
* Billie Eilish spent a single week within the Top 50 for her third entry “You Should See Me in a Crown”, as it drops back down fourteen spots to No.61, while her “Oceans Eyes” tracks drops too (77 to 95).
* The Hilltop Hoods plummet fifteen spots to No.67 with “Clark Griswold”.
* The older Kygo entry “Remind Me to Forget” tumbles down seventeen spots to No.73.
* Shawn Mendes is reduced to one track within the Top 100 this week as “In My Blood” falls sixteen spots to No.81 and his “Nervous” track leaves from No.73.
* There is also a sixteen place drop for “These Days” by Rudimental with Jess Glynne and Macklemore to No.82.
* Kendrick Lamar drops down fifteen spots to No.85 with “Humble.”.
* Portugal.The Man are down eighteen places to No.87 with “Feel it Still”.
* Imagine Dragons’ older entries are both down again in “Thunder” (76 to 91) and “Believer” (82 to 99).
* The theme from ‘The Greatest Showman” and “This is Me” falls twenty-five places to No.93.
* With his older track rising, the three week old entry for Martin Garrix and “High on Life” plummets thirty-five spots this week to No.94.
* The Chainsmokers slide down twenty-five places to No.97 with their “Side Effects” track.
* Ruel falls ten places to No.98 with his song “Younger”.

* #30 – Promises by Calvin Harris and Sam Smith is the 30th Top 100 entry for the Scottish DJ and producer who first charted here in 2006 with “Acceptable in the 80’s “(HP-97), while it’s the 18th Top 100 entry for Sam Smith, with this track joining Calvin’s other Top 100 entry “One Kiss” with Dua Lipa (HP-3, TW-33).

* #48 – Happier by Marshmello and Bastille is the fifth Top 100 entry for the mysterious DJ and producer whose first three entries here all hit the Top 10, two of which depart the chart this week in “Friends” with Anne-Marie (HP-4) and “Silence” with Khalid (HP-5, which also just logged a year on the chart), while for UK act Bastille this is their fourth chart entry.

* #50 – Respect by Aretha Franklin (AMR HP-14, Go-Set chart HP-15, both peaked Sept 1967).
* #62 – I Say a Little Prayer by Aretha Franklin (AMR HP-8, Go-Set chart HP-10, both peaked late Oct. 1968)
* #70 – (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin (AMR HP-36, Go-Set chart HP-33, both peaked November, 1967).
* #100 – Think by Aretha Franklin and The Blues Brothers all charted due to the passing this week of the ‘Queen of Soul’ at the age of 76 from Pancreatic Cancer, with the first three songs all being re-entries, while her version of “Think” with The Blues Brothers from their film (1980) makes its first singles chart appearance (the original version of “Think” hit No.49 in July of 1968). She had twenty chart hits in Australia from 1961’s “Rock-a-Bye Your Baby with a Dixie Melody” (HP-30) through to 1989 when she did a duet with Elton John for “Through the Storm” (HP-63). She had three Top 10 singles in Australia in “I Say a Little Prayer” (HP-8, Oct 1968), “Freeway of Love” (HP-6, peaked late Sept 1985) and her only No.1 song here alongside George Michael with “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)” (HP-1×4, peaked late March, 1987, which charts on the digital listings this week at No.36).

* #78 – Waiting by Kian, who won the Triple Unearthed High competition on August 15th, and this is the first release from the 16 year old Castlemaine Year 10 student, which also makes it his first singles chart entry too.
