Santana is currently in India for the very first time and says the Indian media misquoted him.

Indian new source dnaindia.com published this quote attributed to Carlos Santana:

“I believe that collaborations should only happen between two people who complement each other. I cannot go ahead and collaborate with Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber. I have always maintained that. Music is not a competition. It is harmony. It is not Olympics where you have to outdo each other.”

In his correction, Santana says he meant the complete opposite.

“I like to crystallize and correct the press in New Delhi. My accurate statement was ‘By the grace of GOD, it is not impossible to collaborate (share music) with Mr. Andrea Bocelli, Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber. It’s a matter of the right song and some willingness. I hold my sister and two brothers in the same light and I am grateful that nothing is out of the realm of possibility’.
Peace”.

Santana will perform in Dehli after the Formula 1 race at the FI Rocks Festival today (October 28) as well as Bluesfest in Australia in March, 2013.
