Her able handler Barry Humphries insists that Dame Edna is not retiring completely, but she is winding up her live stage presence.

The East Coast tour is titled ‘Eat Pray Laugh’ and the Grand Old Dame of Australian Manners will likely be joined by Australia’s premier cultural attaché Sir Les Patterson, as well as Humphries himself.

Dame Edna said in a press release, “Possums, please do come and say goodbye to me. It would be lovely to see your faces for the last time”.

“When you hear your grandchild’s voice saying, ‘Grandma, did you see Dame Edna’s farewell show?’ don’t betray their faith in you. Say ‘yes darling! Many, many times!’”

“You will see me at the height of my powers, taking you on a wonderful spiritual journey you’ll never forget. I’m not saying my show will heal you, but you’ll certainly leave the theatre feeling considerably better for the experience.”

Pre-sale tickets are available now through Showbiz.com.au and will be available to all through Ticketmaster for Gold Coast and Sydney, Ticketek for Newcastle and Melbourne, and through the venue in Canberra from Friday 30 March.
