The shortlist for the National Indigenous Music Awards looks like a who’s who of Australian music in 20014 with Dan Sultan, Gurrumul, Jessica Mauboy and Shellie Norris all shortlisted for Artist of the Year.

Likewise Song of the Year includes some of Australia’s greatest talents with Gurrumul, Dan Sultan, Jimblah, Dewayne Everettsmith and Busby Marou all up for the prize.

“This year’s short-list of finalists exemplify the fact that Indigenous musicians continue to make a mark on the mainstream. Most of, if not all names in the national categories require no further explanation. Simply stating the names Jessica, Dan and Gurrumul is enough. Well done to these wonderful artists and to those emerging acts destined to break through following in the footsteps of those that go before them,” said Mark Smith, MusicNT Executive Director.

The National Indigenous Music Awards will be held in Darwin on August 15.
