The superstorm killed 253 people in seven different countries last year, causing millions of dollars’ worth of damage to areas of Northeastern America. Parts of New Jersey and New York City were particularly affected, with a $51 billion emergency aid package recently approved to help them.

It has now been announced that Madonna is planning to sell some of the outfits she wore on her MDNA Tour, with proceeds going to help those who lost their homes during the natural disaster.

On offer will be the majorette costume and caged basque the singer donned, according to New York Post.

Madonna is also planning to auction off some of the tour’s props, although it’s not known which ones at the moment.

After Hurricane Sandy hit, the 54-year-old star visited some of the areas affected. She also begged her fans to donate to the relief effort while on stage shortly after the storm had passed.

The star is the latest in a long line to help those affected by the superstorm, with Kristen Stewart previously auctioning the dress she wore to the world premiere of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn ‘ Part 2.

In December, a number of musical acts performed a benefit concert in Madison Square Garden, raising more than $30 million for the cause. Among those who took part were Chris Martin, Dave Grohl, Sir Paul McCartney, Kanye West, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Selena Gomez have auctioned off once-in-a-lifetime experiences to raise money, while the cast of TV show Jersey Shore – filmed in one of the areas worst hit – raised over $1 million in a telethon.
