Canada’s Marianas Trench want to develop their live show to mirror this current album ‘Ever After’ but it won’t happen before their Australian dates.

In an interview with Noise11.com bass player Mike Ayley said, “We are definitely developing a concept type concert and live show to go with the concept album. We did that already and will expand on it. It will be quite fun to do something like that”.

Although the show won’t be ready for their Australian tour in September, elements of the storyline for the concept album are included in the current show. “We do begin like a fairy-tale when the beginning is actually read,” he says. “We also recite the end of the fairy-tale. It is on our P.A. system and is read like it is from a storybook. We are hoping to include more excerpts from the story on the video wall in Canada. We are hoping to get to the point where we can bring that show everywhere because its fun for us too. When you play 15 songs it would be nice to include an entertainment level along the lines of a Cirque Du Soliel where it is more complete with more show and its not just a concert”.

Mike describes ‘Ever After’ as a fairy-tale. “Its not a crazy story or something brand new. We wanted to do a fairy-tale because it would give us a lot more options for the styling and for presentation. We kept it on the basic idea of a Nadia or an Alice in Wonderland where you’ve got the protagonist who gets lost in this alternate universe or a different world where the rules of normal do not apply. The toys are alive and they alive. It is dark and twisted and there is an evil Queen and the people in that world regain control of it”.

Marianas Trench will tour Australia for the very first time in September for Live Nation. Dates are:

September 24, Melbourne, The Corner Hotel
September 25, Brisbane, The Zoo
September 26, Sydney, The Metro Theatre
