Triple J’s breakfast team Matt & Alex will not return to the network in 2017.

Alex Dyson started at the station when he was 18-years old and stayed with Triple J for 10 years. “After spending over a third of my life at triple j, I felt it was time to give someone else a go while I travel the world, do a bit of writing and wean myself off my addiction to new Australian music.”

Comedian Matt Okine will go back to his old job, live comedy. “Before radio I actually studied an acting degree, so I figured I’d wait until my looks and hair had completely deteriorated before moving to the small screen.”

Okine also records as The Boilermakers.

Triple J program director Ollie Wards commented saying “As soon as I wake up I hit the triple j app to hear what Matt & Alex are talking about. Not because I have to, I’m genuinely a massive fan. From ludicrous talkback like ‘what’ve you eaten for stuff?’, wtf moments to learning about space – triple j breakfast has been an awesome ride with Matt & Alex. I can’t wait to see what they do next”.

The final Matt & Alex show will be December 12 from the Sydney studios in Ultimo.
