ARIA winning singer songwriter Monique Brumby and guitarist Phil Ceberano will front Rock Academy Melbourne to mentor teen music talent in songwriting and performing these July school holidays.

Rock Academy Melbourne’s mentoring program will be held at Bakehouse Studios, the space where acts like Crowded House, Elvis Costello and Ed Sheeran, have rehearsed for their Australian tours.

Rock Academy is for teenage singers, guitarists, drummers and keyboard players aged 13-19. “Learning to play music and developing the skill of playing an instrument is just one part of the equation,” Phil Ceberano said in a statement.

“After 30+ years on the road and in the studio working as a professional musician, I’ve realised and I’m still learning that there is so much to learn about the art of live performance and working with others to fulfil the rock dream.

“In Rock Academy we work with our ‘Young Lions’ to get the true experience of what it means to collaborate and perform as a singer songwriter or part of a band by actually doing it.”
