Rami Malek calls Freddie Mercury the Marvel character of rock stars

Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek has nailed the persona of Freddie Mercury when he called him “the Marvel character of rock stars.

Malek told The Hollywood Reporter, “He is almost superhuman. He walks on stage with a cape and a crown and he might as well be the Marvel character of rock stars”.

Malek has received nothing but praise for his performance as Freddie Mercury in the biopic with many expecting an Oscar is a certainty for the 37 year old Mr Robot star.

Malek also told The Hollywood Reporter that the storyline was limited by time. “They would love to deliver the entire Freddie Mercury story, but we have two hours. And in those two hours I know that those men want to celebrate Freddie’s life, and there was definitely a cognizant effort not to make this a hedonistic, salacious film,” he said.

About the film’s storyline imperfections he said “It’s never going to be perfect in fulfilling the story of a man who we could make countless documentaries about and countless miniseries about”.

Bohemian Rhapsody was made on a budget of around $50 million. It has currently grossed more than $500 million at the box office.
