The Cat Empire To Play 1000th Show

The Cat Empire will celebrate their 1000th show with a free concert in hometown Melbourne on March 21.

The Cat Empire have sold over 1.5 million albums over 10 years and have played 999 shows to date.

In 10 years the band has played to more than 6 million people.

The first show for The Cat Empire was on May 24, 2001 to 50 people. Their biggest show was on July 6, 2013 to over 250,000 people.

The band holds the record for the most shows in a row at Sydney’s Metro Theatre (8 shows in 7 days) and holds the record for the most shows ever played at Melbourne’s Prince Of Wales bandroom.

The Cat Empire estimate that in the past decade they have hired 2500 cars, used 12000 hotel rooms, missed 12 flights, cancelled 1 show and recorded 76 songs over 6 albums.

Show 1000 will take place at 7pm on March 21 at Federation Square in Melbourne.
