Margaret Court Has Now Completely Overstepped The Line

Margaret Court, the former tennis champion who recreated her own Church and now judges the world based on her interpretation of a 2000 year old book, has completely lost the plot with her latest rant.

Court now claims that “tennis is full of lesbians” and gay people are like “what Hitler did, that’s what Communism did — got the mind of the children”.

Court claims the “tennis lesbians” are influencing our youth “I mean, tennis is full of lesbians because even when I was playing there was only a couple there but those couple that lead that took young ones into parties and things,” she said on 20Twenty Vision Christian Radio this week.

The vile comments from the former tennis champ spewed across the Australian media this week were initiated by her open letter to the West Australian newspaper saying she was boycotting flying Qantas because the airline is pro-gay marriage.

After the backlash her insensitive rant caused, Court then claimed that she was being bullied by the media. Her right-winged media foot-soldiers like Murdoch hack Miranda Devine and shock jock Neil Mitchell branded her accusers as “rainbow fascists” and “gay mafia”.

What is destructive to our youth is that Margaret Court’s name is branded on a major Melbourne sporting and entertainment venue Margaret Court Arena. Little Mix, Body Count, Alice Cooper, Alison Moyet, Sigur Ros and J. Cole will perform there in coming months,

Visiting US rockstar Ryan Adams, the first major act to play the venue since the Court outburst told his audience the venue should be called ‘Marriage Equality Arena’. Promoter Michael Gudinski, one of the most powerful people in music worldwide also called for a name change saying “I support equality. (Court’s comments) are an embarrassment.”

The once great tennis champ Margaret Court is a national embarrassment. It is shame a venue for all-Australians is now branded by the name of a homophobe who only recognises the rights of her like-minded few.

Court argues marriage should be about a man and a woman, because that’s what it says in the bible. She also conveniently disregards the fact that at the time her rule book was written, the definition of marriage was a legal contract for a man to own a woman for the purpose of procreation and love had nothing to do with it.

Margaret Court Arena is part of the National Tennis Centre at Melbourne Park and included in the Melbourne Sports and Entertainment Precinct.

The name Margaret Court attached to a place where all Australian should be about to gather safely is clearly just unacceptable. The name of the venue seriosuly needs to be changed.
