Music stores right across Australia are preparing celebrations and event for Record Store Day 2016.

Record Store Day is not just exclusive to the capital cities across Australia. Stores like $4 Vinyl in Wollongong, Abicus in Newcastle, Backbeat Records in Nambour, Black Swan Records in Ballarat, Bunker Records in Toowoomba and CD Centre in Launceston will all open their doors on April 16 for Record Store Day.

Record Store Day is an annual global event. Music stores worldwide stimulate music fans to participate in the thrill of high definition sound from the physical CD or vinyl, as opposed to the inferior poor quality streaming or digital download.

Australia has maintained a unique uptake for the physical disc because of the populous music stores nationally. In the USA, stores such as Tower, Virgin and HMV were all publically listed companies that collapsed under the greed of the stock exchange, not public disinterest.

Despite that, the USA still has over 800 music stores. Australia has a far greater penetration of music stores with the strong retail base of independent Leading Edge Group, privately owned and operated shops and big retail from chain stores.

Record Store Day Australia is celebrated by the independent sector of the Australian music market. Music fans can be confident that by shopping at the Record Store Day Australia stores you are supporting an owner operated business.

Record Store Day Australia is April 16, 2016.
