Remember Dev Hynes? He was in the lol-aliciously titled Test Icicles and then released a couple of albums as Lightspeed Champion, but now he has reinvented himself again as Blood Orange and is planning on bringing his new incarnation to Australia to show us what he’s all about.

The new Dev is a result of some pretty nasty throat surgery that resulted in him not speaking a word for two months, which would both suck and blow. Once he could use his vocal chords again he emerged with a soulful voice that had previously been constrained by a shy body.

Also influencing his new sound are collaborations he has done with artists such as The Chemical Brothers and Florence and the Machine as he branches out from the straightforward guitar, bass, drums that he was desperate to burst out of in Lightspeed Champion mode.

Now fans in Melbourne and Sydney can check him out in at:

JANUARY

5 – Goodgod, Sydney, NSW
11 – Northcote Social Club, Melbourne, VIC

His album Costal Grooves is out now through Domino.
